Thermal Imaging Assessment for Electrical/Mechanical Components

Thermal imaging technology is used to assess condition of internal wires, motor winding insulation, gear box, and mechanical load brakes. Konecranes uses the thermal imaging camera on the electrical/mechanical components of your crane to uncover maintenance issues before a sudden failure or safety hazard occurs. The components which may be inspected with Thermal Image Technology include:
- Motors
- Variable Frequency Drives
- Brake Controls
- Contactors
- Protective Circuit Breakers
Abnormal temperatures and heat patterns are a warning sign of potential problems such as:
- loose/poor electrical connections
- worn contacts or worn insulation
- overloaded motors due to electrical imbalance
- failing bearings
- malfunctioning heat dissipating/cooling equipment
- equipment being used beyond its intended duty or in a more demanding temperature environment.
