Developing the perfect lifting equipment for your mill is only a fraction of what we do. Konecranes engineering and service team work on the front lines of productivity around the world, raising the bar with enhanced safety, lower lifetime equipment cost, increased uptime and better reliability. Konecranes has the largest service network in the world, working internationally from over 370 locations. Konecranes leads the lifting industry in designing predictive and preventive maintenance plans that lowers the cost of downtime as well as increases the productivity of uptime. Working with us can lift your steel industry company to a higher level of productivity.
Our innovative steel mill cranes have assisted in shaping and pioneering today’s steelmaking developments. Using our single-crane solution for ladle, charge, maintenance and billet cranes, facilities have become more cost-effective to operate and build. Backup cranes are obsolete because redundant features allow one crane to do the job of two. This can decrease runway length and the facility’s footprint up to 30 percent.
We operate crane manufacturing plants around the world, sharing international engineering and sourcing through a massive database of time-tested answers. Our international service outlets and plants help us build our cranes close to the customer. From planning to installation and throughout your equipment’s life cycle, your local service team has the opportunity to be involved.
The charge crane is critical in a steel mill. These cranes operate in dusty, extremely hot environments (Over 70 degrees Celsius). These cranes are protected from flames, and are built to take the extreme heat of the charge, as well as operate in hot places. We also provide features that decrease debris and dust buildup on the charge crane.
For irregular maintenance tasks like lifting the furnace shell, these cranes can be built with a higher lifting capacity. Occasionally, the charge crane may be utilized as a replacement for a ladle crane; because of this, we duplicate as many components as possible to make finding spare parts easy.
These cranes perform the turning of the pieces, and also transport material amongst different machines in the rolling mills. Specific load handling devices and high speeds are both requirements. The device handling the load must be able to handle the load’s heat emission.
Rolling Area Cranes transport plate, bar or coil products shaped by machines in the rolling mills. They have specific below-the-hook devices built for the products they handle as well as high speed requirements. Rolling area cranes can also be used to work on the rolling mill equipment. We offer special control and design options for versatile dual purpose cranes:
This crane’s reliability is extremely important because it is often the only crane in a steel mill that can perform ladle handling. The crane is used to move molten metal, making safety crucial. We take reliability and safety seriously. Konecranes develops features into these cranes that are focused on ease of maintenance, precise control and redundancy of systems. We ensure safe and smooth ladle handling with our patented load control systems. Semi automation assists in guiding the operator in safe transport and accurate placement of the ladle along its load path. Our goal is that your company sees these important cranes have no unexpected downtime. Konecranes works with clients to design maintenance-friendly features for these cranes.
These cranes are important to the operation because they feed the rolling mill. In order to properly position the product (in relation to the conveyor) these cranes occasionally use a rotating trolley. Billet and slab handling cranes have high speed requirements and must be able to handle radiant heat from the product.
These cranes are heavy-duty and high production, and they handle the entire product being shipped to the customer. Because of this, performance, speed and reliability are extremely important for this crane. Our independent traveling cabs improve throughput. The cabs give the operator the positioning flexibility to move steel products to rail cars or trucks easily, as well as an excellent view of the storage area. With operator-assist technologies, like DynAPilot or AutOPilot, these tasks can be fully or semi automated.
