Crane Capacity Applications

Konecranes delivers a wide variety of different ton cranes, each designed to specifically meet the needs of your industry.

Superior design and innovative technology go into every crane engineered and built by Konecranes—from light crane systems for workstations and assembly lines to the world’s largest cranes that perform dependably in a wide variety of severe duty situations.

The smallest of our cranes are designed to lift a ton or less. Our largest standard models handle up to 500 tons. In between these extremes we offer an array of models designed for a multitude of load capacities and applications.  In addition, Konecranes custom builds cranes to meet customers’ special applications that involve up to 1,000-ton loads.

Konecranes puts more than 80 years of experience and quality into our products—along with innovative technologies such as our XN chain hoists and CXT wire rope hoists. Recognized as a world leader in lifting solutions, we also offer the advantage of the world’s largest network of support and service engineers to maximize the life and minimize the downtime of our cranes.

Our comprehensive line of cranes includes:

  • XM light crane systems designed for lower lifting capacities of 1 to 2 tons and less (see 1 Ton Cranes and 2 Ton Cranes), ideal for workstations, repair shops, assembly lines and jib cranes
  • Industrial cranes with space-saving design to handle light- to heavy-duty lifting with Konecranes’ proprietary XN chain hoists and CXT wire rope hoists
  • Process cranes, the largest and most complex cranes in the industry, engineered by Konecranes to improve productivity and process efficiency in high performance applications that require high operating speeds, automation, continuous duty cycles, large capacity and stressful operating environments. These include hot metal ladle cranes, scrap-handling cranes, coker cranes and cranes that handle steel coils.
  • Port cranes that handle high-capacity loading and unloading tasks onboard ships and in ports, harbors and the offshore industry, as well as use in ship building.

Konecranes also specializes in designing and building cranes for hazardous environments, for both light- and heavy-duty assignments. For instance, Konecranes’ explosion-proof cranes are widely used in oil refineries, chemical and petrochemical plants, gas power plants, paint shops and waste water treatment plants.
